The Safety Of Childrens Bedroom Furniture

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

When having children it is imperative to consider the safety of childrens bedroom furniture. For infants, a safe crib should be provided. As the child grows, take into consideration the transition to a safe bed. Parents get excited to create the perfect child’s bedroom at a reasonable price but it is also important to keep in mind the safety of the furniture provided.

With infants it is a bit easier to decide because there aren’t a whole lot of options and the parent is the only one giving the input. An infant will sleep in a bassinet, or more commonly, a crib. There is also the dresser, changing table and other furniture to accessorize the bedroom. When it comes to safety, there are a few important points to consider when buying the perfect crib.

There have been incidences where infants heads have gotten stuck between mattress and crib or between crib slats. A good way to prevent such tragedies is to ensure that the mattress fits tightly inside the crib. The slats of the crib should measure no more than 2 3/8 inches to avoid becoming stuck.

Eventually, the infant grows into a toddler who is ready to make the move to a real bed. Remember that the toddler is used to the slats of the crib keeping them from falling out. There will need to be time made for the adjustment to a bed. A good way to do this is to install side rails to the bed, keeping them in place until the child is more aware of his or her surroundings.

Bunk beds are a popular request from children, especially if they share a room with a sibling. When a child becomes old enough to handle a bed of this type, it is important to be aware of the downfalls, literally, that can occur with bunk beds. Be sure that the top bunk is set up with a strong side rail and that the ladder is sturdy enough to withstand children who can be tough on their furniture at this age.

Another thing to keep in mind is the height of the dresser. It is wise to have a dresser two drawers high rather than four. The reason for this is so the child’s clothes are within reach without having to climb. A child could climb up a 4-drawer dresser for a pair of socks and the dresser could fall over on the child.

It is very possible to create the bedroom of a child’s dreams and keep within a healthy budget. Just don’t forget to make safety the first consideration before making a purchase.

It is very important that childrens bedroom furniture is durable because any parent will tell you how hard children can be on their belongings and if you opt for the cheapest, it will probably break quite quickly and end up costing you more in the long run. Click on childrens bedroom furniture.

Three Bears And A Bumbo Chair.

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

I love to sit and watch the television with my baby and she especially loves the story of the three bears, but the problem was always that since she is so young I always have to hold her in my lap so it prevents me engaging with her and also if I want to get things done then I can’t. Recently I was given A Bumbo Chair as a gift and it changed the way I watch the three bears with my daughter in an amazing way

If you have not heard of the Bumbo Chair then prepare to be amazed because when I tell you what it does you will want to get one, but first let me share with you what it has done for our family and the amazing benefits it is bringing to everyone

What amazes me is that noone has thought of the Bumbo Chair before, because what it does quite simply is solve a problem that has been annoying parents since the dawn of time. The Bumbo Chair allows your baby to sit unaided, and quite simply this is incredible. The most beneficial product in a long time and let me share why

When your baby is very young the times can be very frustrating, and of course rewarding. The frustration is borne out of the fact that the child gets annoyed not being able to move around the mother gets frustrated by the fact that she has to carry her child everywhere which prevents her getting things done and also puts a strain on the back.

Granted the baby is not always awake and so you can get things done while she sleeps but generally speaking, when the baby is awake and unable to sit on her own, you will need to be there with her, and this is nice for maybe 10 minutes, but things are not going to cook and clean themselves and time is valuable. With the Bumbo Chair – now you can have that time back!

The Bumbo chair not only supports your baby when she sits and prevents her from falling over it also promotes proper spine growth and the necessary developmental muscles that will help your baby to crawl and walk, so actually this amazing Chair by Bumbo is doing more than simply giving you back your time and freedom

So what is the Bumbo Chair made from and how does it work? Well the chair itself is made from a non toxic rubber that is so soft to the touch and basically moulds around your baby’s lefs and torso. The rubber has a soft outer skin that is no fuss easy to clean and mess just wipes off without a problem. It weighs almost nothing and as such is so easy to take anywhere with you, that means that when you are getting your chores done, you can take the baby with you into each room so she can sit and giggle as she watches you work.

Basically the Bumbo Chair has allowed me to spend more quality time with my baby, while at the same time providing me with valuable time to get all the chores done around the house (and as a parent we know there are ALWAYS chores that need doing!) NOt only this, the Bumbo Chair promotes excellent muscle growth so I know that not only am I getting to engage with my child more, I am also helping them to learn to walk sooner. This truly is the most incredible gift I have ever been given

How Bed Guards Can Protect Your Children

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

The purpose of a bed guard is to stop a young child (and their duvet and teddies) from falling out of bed. The bed guard is put along the open side(s) of a bed and creates a barrier which a young child can roll up against.

Bed guards are usually purchased when a toddler is making the move from a secure cot to an open sided bed. The move in beds usually happens when a toddler is around its 2nd birthday.

Typical bed rails are either made of wooden slats or have a hard frame around a flexible core. The guards are available in a selection of hues and polishes however they do all operate identically. The traditional guards all have to be put together from separate parts and they are then attached under the bed using a variety of fixings. They are difficult to handle, weighty and costly.

Recently a great new bed guard has been launched. The new bed guard is marketed under the brand name The Bed Bumper. This innovation is 1000mm of bendable foam and it goes straight onto the uncovered mattress.

The fitted sheets are pulled over the bumper and secured as normal under the mattress. The foam ‘grips’ the cotton in the mattress and so, once the bed is remade, The Bed Bumper will stay in place all night long.

No assembly is required, no screws and clamps, no hard metal, plastic or wood and, most importantly, no chance of entrapment. The foam is pale yellow and sits discreetly under the sheets with no show through.

The foam guard comes in a range of lengths and is perfect for any child in any bed. It is so light it can easily be taken out of the home and used on airbeds as easily as a normal bed at Grannies house. It is easily bent into a rucksack and carried without weight.

All UK bed guards are tested against UK Safety Standard BS7972.

Childrens Beds – Fun Sizes And Styles Any Child Is Sure To Love

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Looking for a children’s bed can be a true challenge, especially when it comes to choosing a bed based on age. However, there are som guidelines that can help you as you persevere to find which best is best for your little man or princess.

When it comes to choosing the right bed for your child, the age will definitely come into play.

- Up to 24 months. Babies up to 24 months typically sleep in a crib. Cribs are great for this age because they basically put your baby in a comfortable cage where he or she cannot be harmed, and you can make the area as pleasant as possible by adding bumper pads, comforters and distractions like mobiles to help baby get to sleep faster. A word of warning, however; there is no set age that a child should be moved out of the crib into other sleeping arrangements.

- The toddler. Once a baby can climb, cribs can become very dangerous as baby works to escape from the crib when you are not looking. A toddler bed is a great children’s bed choice for children of this age. It is small and low to the ground so that it is perfectly sized for the child to get into, and if he rolls off, he’s not far from the floor.

- Regular bed. A regular bed for your older child is the next step after a toddler bed. Most kids can sleep in a toddler bed until they are six years of age – but may need moved to a regular children’s bed before or after that age – depending on the child’s size.

There are also cribs on the market that convert from crib to toddler bed to half bed as the child grows. This type of children’s bed may be the best value for your dollar.

Getting your kids to go to bed doesn’t need to be difficult! Fun and cute beds for kids encourage kids to be more enthusiastic about going to sleep.

Various Bed Frame Options For Children

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Don’t just focus on sleep when you design a bedroom. You want to design a beautiful, restful, fun space. Especially if you are designing a kid’s room, you want to let the room’s full potential be realized. You do so much in your bedroom — and for kids, their room is their sanctuary.

For kids, there are many different popular bed styles out there. You can try a twin size, a full size, a loft or platform, a canopy bed, even a bed shaped like a race car! Kids love a neat bed. They are not so picky about dresser or nightstand though, so don’t go all out there.

At college, kids become huge fans of captains beds or lofts. With these type of beds, you can maximize the space underneath with a desk, bookcase, or futon. Pretty much you can double the usable space in that section of a room by raising the bed.

For a loft bed, it can be a real pain to climb up and down especially when you are tired or sleepy. Still, it is usually well worth the extra room.

Despite this, loft beds are still very popular. Some people have lofts in college, and like the style so much they keep on using it after graduation.

You probably are familiar with your bed frame options. There are the standard headboards, but also sleigh beds, tufted beds, more modern bed frames, and so on.

It’s easy to pick the material. Do you want metal or wood? Metal frames are available in various colors such as black, white, or brown. You can also get wood frames such as oak, pine, maple, or cherry.

When you are deciding on which nightstand and dressers to choose, you can match them with the rest of the room or contrast them by choosing different materials or finishes. You can get them in all the same woods and colors if you prefer or not. Use your judgment and imagination, and pick what you like.

Childrens Bedroom Furniture That Is Fun

Sunday, June 20th, 2010

When choosing childrens bedroom furniture, it’s nice to know their favorite colors. If two girls are going to be sharing the room, and their favorite colors are pink and yellow, then it’s easy. The walls can be painted, and the furniture can be a nice light-colored wood, allowing for some style.

If they choose crazy colors, that’s o. K., too. Just tone them down a bit. For instance, if they choose dark turquoise, they will have to compromise and make it a toned down pretty aqua color. For boys, the same would apply.

If you prefer to color the furniture, that is another option. Then the walls can be simply white or a soft pastel color. This will go well with almost any color of furniture you decide on.

Children need a place for their toys. They can be put into a toy chest, which also doubles as another piece of matching furniture. Or underneath the bed, if it has a compartment for storage, as some beds do. And then there are squares of wood or plastic, that you can paint, and they can be stacked like shelves, or placed around the room. The toys placed inside the four sides are actually displayed this way.

The bed and nightstand should match somewhat. And maybe a cartoon or action character can be used for the nightstand lamp. A small night light plugged in at the floor board is also helpful for a child who may be afraid of the dark. A small vanity in a corner of the room is a nice idea for a place for a girl to comb her hair. And a bunk bed might be a cute idea for two little boys, if they can decide on who gets the top bunk.

It is always a good idea to have plenty of closet space for a child. Drawers are essential, as well. This way, there is no stress in placing clothing into them, and they may actually like putting their clothes away. It will teach them a certain amount of organization.

If there is a place provided for dirty clothes, there is no excuse to dump them onto the bedroom floor. Make sure your child has a personal hamper of his own.

Your childrens bedroom furniture should consist of attractive, functional pieces. And if you promote neat behavior and organization along the way, that is so much better for you.

Children’s bedroom furniture should be very durable because kids are infamously rough with their possessions and things can easily get broken. The highest quality furniture will be the cheapest option in the long run. Click either link for the highest standard, hand-made, personalized children’s bedroom furniture.

Factors To Look For In A Bed Intended For Small Children

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

When you have an active toddler, why would you want to move your toddler into a toddler bed right away? Some parents feel that a crib is like a miniature jail with bars, but I have seen some of these toddlers, and believe me, this might not be a bad idea. Just joking. Seriously though, some toddler beds are not made to withstand the pressures that might be placed on them by an active toddler since they are merely designed for appearance.

Purchasing a cheaper bed may sound like a good idea at the time, but in the end, how good of an idea is it really? Your toddler will not have support under their growing weight whatsoever, and at this point in their life, they are continuously growing. Yes, the beds will look really cute, but should that be the primary consideration when choosing your toddler bed?

Most children cannot resist the urge to jump on a bed. With the majority of most toddler beds, the recommended weight is a maximum of fifty pounds, but still when you get an active little toddler jumping around on a bed and turning flips, this will put pressure on most any toddler bed. Parents need to consider this when buying their child a bed.

Parents need to consider every situation that may occur when buying a toddler bed for their child. What are the possibilities of you sleeping with them? What are the chances of them having a guest spend the night in your house? These things may happen in the future with the toddler bed you purchase. The main thing you need to ask yourself is how the frame will hold up.

The mattress that you select for the toddler bed will make a huge difference as well. Most toddler beds these days come with their own bed rails, but it is not unusual for parents to go out and purchase additional bed rails that are of a better quality.

When purchasing bed rails, parents need to consider the height of the mattress, too. The bed rails need to stand higher than the mattress to prevent the toddler from falling off the bed. This happens often at night – the screaming toddler who has fallen off the bed awakens parents from deep sleep. To prevent this from happening, then be sure the bed rails sit above the mattress on your toddler’s bed.

Depending on the height of the bed rails and the thickness of the mattress that you are using, then these might not match at all. If the mattress is higher than the bed rails, then the bed rails are not going to be of any help to you. Ensure to take this into consideration when selecting your toddler bed as well.
